Communicating better, with people whose behaviour challenges services, is key to improving services, and the lives of the people using them. Environmental factors can be important in reducing challenging behaviour. Knowing someone really well allows staff to personalise the support they offer, and avoid triggers for challenging behaviour. Working well with someone can reduce the need for intensive staffing and expensive placements.
